CILIP, aka the Library Association (LA), has a webpage detailing training available to its members and others on its lovely pink website. These ‘forthcoming workshops’ are divided into seven categories. What would you expect these to be, coming as they do from the librarians’ professional body: classifying, selection, circulation, cataloguing, or even metadata; perhaps even some supporting subjects: such as management, finances, and computing? In fact, all except one are not library-specific:

- Interpersonal skills
- Management skills
- Marketing and fundraising
- Professional and technical skills
- Teaching, learning and development
