The first ceremonies for new immigrants given UK citizenship took place today (as reported on the BBC). Fair enough, but what bothers me is that they had to sing. That’s too cruel! The fact that it was the National Anthem is irrelavent. No-one should have to sing to be a citizen of a country. No-one should have to sing, full stop.
